We are about to take a nine-month trip through South America. “We” are Mike Weinstein and Monica Dostal, and we live in Eugene, Oregon. We’ve been living in Eugene for sixteen years, and we’ve been with each other for twenty eight years. We’ve wanted to travel to South America for a long time, and we are taking the opportunity now to do it. Mike’s been working as a teacher of  “English as a Second Language,” and Monica’s been working as a nurse practitioner. We are leaving the working world for  a while in order to step out into the universe and see what we will find.

We will start our trip in mid-September by flying directly to Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are going to volunteer at a private English school there for a couple of months, perhaps even three months if we really like it. After that, we plan to start heading south, into southern Argentina, then across into Southern Chile, when we will start heading north again. We have no plans yet, except that our flight back to the USA is from Lima, Peru. We are planning to fly back around the first of June, 2013.

We’re looking forward to new experiences, new people, speaking Spanish, and freedom. We are taking off with open arms and open hearts, ready to accept what comes our way.

Gary just forwarded me your blog and it’s awesome! I didn’t even know you were gone (how observant I am these days!) but I love that you are off having adventures and that you’re taking time to share them with us. I’m extremely envious, but I know that my time will come and it’s great to see what you’ve been able to do and experience. I don’t see any juggling pictures, but I do see some baking! 🙂 Que te vayas bien!
